What is the Goal of ActualDesign?
Each person has their own individual goals, and ActualDesign training supports fulfilling these. Each individual’s Higher Self has more ultimate goals: awakening to one’s own higher truths and knowing who one actually is. Bringing these all together is called wholeness: the Higher Self manifesting in the personality’s endeavors in daily life so that all aspects of living are infused with the goodness, truth, and love that is our core nature.
Will ActualDesign practice help me in my daily life?
Yes; in fact the use of ActualDesign tools and techniques is highly encouraged in all kinds of situations and is an important part of spiritual growth. A key intention of ActualDesign’s founder, Russell Schofield, was what the termed “Earthing [grounding] Light in the marketplace”, the practical application of spiritual principles so that spirit and body would be integrated and real-world existence could embody humanity’s highest potentials.
What results can I expect?
Results will depend on an individual’s needs and intentions, such as health and healing, self-understanding, inner peace and stress relief, improvement in relationships, effective functioning in daily life, or greater spiritual awakening. Results will also vary according to the person’s focus and application. ActualDesign techniques aim to resolve the causes of issues rather than just alleviate symptoms, so while some results can be achieved fairly quickly, other will take longer.
Is there a commitment?
Only to yourself and the quest for your own truth. Each lesson is complete in itself and you schedule one at a time as you wish. We recommend that you try the first seven sessions to get a good sense of the scope of the training and how it will work for you.
How long does it take?
Some people are satisfied with what they get from one class — for others it’s a lifetime exploration, either on their own or in classes.
I have no experience with this kind of work. Is that a problem?
No; in some ways it’s an advantage because there may be less expectation of what it will turn out to be for you (“beginner’s mind”).
Can I do this with my spouse, partner, friend or family member?
Certainly, if they have also been trained. If they have a different practice, you can be together, each doing your own.
Where can I get in person training (post pandemic) versus online training?
Currently we have teachers located in New York, western Michigan, Tucson, and, in California, San Diego, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Benicia.
What are ActualDesign’s beliefs?
We discourage belief and encourage inquiry, open-mindedness, and personal experience. Beliefs get in the way of experience, which often turns out to be different than one’s expectation. We posit that each person has an immortal Higher Self that is the source of life-energy for that person. Each then comes to experience — or not experience — that in their own way.
What is a sensitive?
A sensitive is one who has an enhanced level of sensitivity to energy, whether it comes from internal or external sources. Energy can be constructive or destructive. Some internal examples of potentially destructive energy are depression, anxiety and rage. Sensitives often experience external down-pulling energy among large crowds, loud noise, and from being around negative, angry, critical people. Any or all of these can leave one feeling drained, overwhelmed, with a sense of hopelessness, paralysis or confused about what to do next.
Sensitivity is a double-edged sword. Without training and an awareness that energies play a huge part in one’s daily life, it can turn to self-judgment and negative self-images that cripple our mental and emotional selves. With training one becomes more aware of self and others—one’s projections and those that project onto us are often false ideas/images of what is actually true/right for the individual. As one’s sensitivity increases, rather than feeling disempowered, one actually becomes stronger in realizing that often standards and values are the result of conditioning, not necessarily one’s own truth. As we enlighten more of our awareness, we can more fully enjoy life-enhancing energy from internal and external sources, like joy, pleasure and inspiration.
What is the source of life-energy (Light-Fire)?
The energies are universal, but we each have direct sources within us, from our own Higher Self, having qualities that are unique to each of us and become our individual gift to life around us.
What is a “Being of Light”?
Also called the Higher Self, Immortal, Actual Self, and God-Child, it is one’s own divine self, the infinite and eternal creation of God which in turn creates a finite self-extension - the body and personality of a human being. Each Being of Light is unique and similarly its creation – oneself – has her or his own unique purpose, potential, and actual design.
Will ActualDesign conflict with my religious practice?
Each person has their own individual goals, and ActualDesign training supports fulfilling these. Each individual’s Higher Self has more ultimate goals: awakening to one’s own higher truths and knowing who one actually is. Bringing these all together is called wholeness: the Higher Self manifesting in the personality’s endeavors in daily life so that all aspects of living are infused with the goodness, truth, and love that is our core nature.
What is meditation?
There are many forms of meditation. Eastern disciplines typically may involve stilling the mind using different techniques. ActualDesign is more in the Western, or more active, tradition, which involves paying attention to and working with the contents of the mind. Both approaches help lead to greater inner peace, self-knowledge, and spiritual awakening if pursued over time.
Should I meditate at a certain time and place?
That’s not necessary, although it can help you to establish a regular practice, which produces best results.
What do I do if I fall asleep?
This is not uncommon. Just pick up where you fell asleep – though it’s usually not a true sleep but rather a sort of reverie. Notice what you experience in this state and bring it into your process.
